These additions are often viscous and can impair the correct functioning of the device and therefore the effectiveness of the application in the long-term. For individuals with a hypersensitive bronchial system, medications containing essential oils may under certain conditions cause an acute bronchospasm (a sudden cramp-like restriction of the bronchi with shortness of breath).
